Kenneth Copeland Daily Devotional
Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven.
– Matthew 5:44-45
Love them that hates you.. turn the next cheek.. to many people that sound like a weak response to someone who’s giving them trouble. But, the truth of the matter is , it’s the most powerful way to handle your enemies, Its Jesus way, and Jesus strategy is the best strategy there is.
Don’t forget that Jesus went to Nazareth and the religious guys where very angry with Jesus and tried to push him off a cliff. Then what happened ?. Jesus just walk past them, and they couldn’t lay hand on Him. And in another occasion they tried to stone Him, but he didn’t retaliate that time either. Jesus just walked pass them. None of those enemies could touch Him.
When Jesus said turn the other cheek, He never mean that you should watch your enemy beat out your brain, He mean for you to stand firm in faith and in love knowing that the covering mighty power of God will protect you from harm.
“The story of Nicky Cruz as recorded in David Wilkerson’s book, The Cross and the Switchblade, is a perfect example of that. Nicky was reputed to be the most ruthless gang leader of his time. Yet, when David Wilkerson stood in front of him, telling him about Jesus, Nicky was totally unable to hurt him.
He thrust his knife at David several times. But every time he did, David just said, “Nicky, you can cut me into a thousand pieces and every piece will still say, ‘I love you and God loves you.'” Because of love, Nicky couldn’t get his knife close enough to David to hurt him. A supernatural force always stopped it short”
Some people will say “But brother Copeland I don’t have that level or kind of love!”
Well the truth is , you do. Bible said ” the love of God is shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit” Romans 5:5 , all you have to do is to activate that love and let it flow. Refuse to go by your own feelings.
Remember love never fails ! Don’t be afraid of failure, don’t just be afraid of anything when you’re walking in love. The life of love is most powerful kind of life there is
