DEATH OBITUARY : Linsey Malia, Stonehill student dies in Denmark boating crash

A Stonehill College student from Easton was killed in a tragic boating accident while studying abroad in Denmark.

Linsey Malia, 21, who was set to graduate next year, was among two American students killed Saturday when a high-speed jet ski struck the their boat on Copenhagen Harbor, according to DIS, the nonprofit that organizes the study abroad program.

Five other students were treated for injuries.
Stonehill students held a campus vigil yesterday for Malia, who was one of four students who played the school’s “Ace the Skyhawk” mascot at various athletic events.

People are paying tribute on social media.

Lindsey Malia was truly one of the warmest, nicest, most loving people I ever have known. I'm heartbroken by her loss but feel so incredibly grateful to have been able to call her my teammate and my friend. Rest Easy Linsey ❤️

Beyond lucky to have experienced this smile. Thank you for being an amazing mentee and an ever better reminder of why I love Stonehill Linsey Malia

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of a member of our Moreau Honors community, Linsey Malia '18. Linsey was an involved honors scholar having been an MHP mentor, peer mentor, teaching assistant, and campus partner volunteer. Her passing is a deep loss for the Stonehill community.
We encourage students and community members to attend a prayer service today, at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mary, to offer their condolences and come together in solidarity. We ask that you keep Linsey's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

This is my beautiful niece Linsey Malia. Last night I received a call from the US Embassy in Denmark telling me that Linsey was killed in a boating accident in Copenhagen. We are all heartbroken that such a beautiful life was cut short at age 21. Rest In Peace Linsey. We all love you.

Rest easy Linsey Malia. You could always make everyone smile. I'll never forget how you introduced me to my now favorite, French fries and ranch, and the many laughs we had calling in kiss 108 during our middle school sleepovers. 💕 my thoughts and prayers go out to your loved ones.

Desiree Archambault Aww so heartbroken prayers an hugs to you all 💔💔💔
