DEATH OBITUARY : Latham Bell, Long Beach Area High School Coach dies

"Latham Bell, 53, of Seal Beach was driving a 2006 Dodge Durango that crashed into a restaurant near Pacific Coast Highway and Cherry Avenue. The Wilson aquatics community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Bell, an assistant swim coach.

Bell was on the way to a Wilson swim meet, where the team would win a state record 45th consecutive Moore League swim championship, the longest-ever streak in any sport in California. The Bruins pulled off a 30-point turnaround from that earlier meeting to claim the title."

Condolences to the Brothers of Kappa Sigma for the recent loss ofLatham Bell. Keep them and their Friends in your Prayers. Rest In Peace.

Before iPads were a normal thing amongst children, Mr. Bell built and ran the computer lab at Bixby Elementary School in Long Beach, CA. Mr. Bell required you to be an outstanding, respectful student. He was sure to let you know when you weren't being one. I oddly remember him saying he preferred cold pizza.
Anyways, rest well, Mr. Bell. You've left memories with this young man who hadn't seen you in over 10 years. I can't imagine the mark you left on those who stayed and grew in the Long Beach Community. RIP.

Lido Family , its with a very heavy heart and sadness to pass along this note from Commodore Chuck Clay of ABYC about the passing of Staff Commodore Latham Bell early this am .
Latham was a big part in helping making the 2014 Lido Nationals a success working with Amanda Wayne ,John Gresham and Bruce Golison . He was all ways on hand with his great smile and great attitude . I personal have gotten to know Latham when I traveled down to Long Beach .Latham would always be one of the first people to welcome me with a manly hand shake and that GREAT smile ! I know he was very valuable to ALL the members at ABYC .He was very big in helping and promoting the youth sailing of today .
If you could take a minute and just think about our friend that has moved on would be great !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear ABYC Members,
It is with great sadness and heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Staff Commodore Latham Bell.
Latham passed away late yesterday evening.
Latham spent decades at ABYC serving our membership, our Juniors and impacting the students and families of Wilson High School.
To say that Latham will be missed is indeed an understatement. Please know that a memorial service will be shared with the ABYC membership once confirmed by the family.
Our dearest sympathy to Susan and Richard Bell (Latham's parents), his siblings Bryant and Katie and children Richard and Gentry.
Respectfully,
Chuck Clay
ABYC Commodore
