DEATH OBITUARY : Alaina Ullmer , Flushing Middle School student hit by vehicle dies



FLUSHING TWP, MI -- The 13-year-old Flushing Middle School student hit by a vehicle Monday afternoon along Carpenter Road has died, according to family. 
Alaina Ullmer was walking with a classmate around 2:45 p.m. May 1 west on Carpenter Road when she tried to cross to road between Deland Road and Prestonwood Lane and was struck by a vehicle head east. 
She had been listed in critical condition at Hurley Medical Center and surgery performed for a head injury, leg and hip fractures, as well as to remove blood clots. Mlive .

Jane Hock So sad, I hope that the Township or schools decide that sidewalks are important in a school zone where children are walking to school or to the high school.

Lynn Young Criswell Sidewalks would be a great thing there. Unfortunately the line up of cars due to congestion played a significant role in this tragedy forcing her to walk between the cars stopped on the road. A traffic light would be beneficial as well with the sidewalks
