Obituary : Christine Braswell , Delray Beach police officer dies in scooter accident

A Delray Beach police officer has died after a motor scooter crash in Key West.Officer Christine Braswell, 40, died Saturday night at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, the Delray Beach Police Department announced Sunday in a Facebook post. Christine Braswell was hired in 2005 and was a SWAT sniper for the department.

Christine Braswell, 40, died late Saturday “surrounded by the love and care of her parents, her DBPD family and many heartbroken friends,” Police Chief Jeff Goldman said.

I am absolutely without words. Ofc. Christine Braswell was taken from her friends and family, and those she swore an oath to serve. Christine was my sister in the line, a respected academy instructor, and my friend. She is one officer I never thought would get taken out by a drunk driver. She was way too badass for that. I miss you Christine and now I regret not picking up the phone just to say hi to you once in a while. Learn this lesson my friends. Life is precious and sometimes miserably too short. Rest now sister.

I am so very thankful I got to talk to you last week my friend. Had I only known it would be the last time...I would have kept you on the phone longer. We are all heartbroken. You touched so many lives and you will never be forgotten. I know you will have our back, as always, and be watching out for us all. We love you Christine Braswell
