Obituary : Brody Stephens, 8-year-old Indiana basketball phenom dies battling cancer

Brody Stephens who got visits from Andrew Luck and the Warriors Steph Curry while undergoing treatment for Leukemia at Riley Hospital for Children has passed away

Heartbreaking news to pass along this morning... #BrodyStrong
"It is important for us and ALL of you to know that Brody beat leukemia twice. He is and forever will be 2 wins and 0 losses against leukemia," the family posted on Bubbles For Brody.

People are posting condolence on social media.

Brody Stephens’ eyes never left his iPad. Right there in front of him on that screen Sunday was his hero Stephen Curry playing basketball wearing a#BrodyStrong bracelet. Curry has worn that bracelet — that Brody gave to him four months ago when he came to visit the boy at Riley Hospital for Children — in plenty of games before. But this time, that bracelet seemed magical.
Curry went crazy Sunday, scoring 42 points for the Golden State Warriors and draining his 300th 3-pointer. All the while, that black and orange #BrodyStrong bracelet hung off his wrist. The Warriors won the game against the Washington Wizards 139-115. “Brody was stoked,” said Jason Stephens, Brody’s dad. “Coach (Steve) Kerr texted him before the game to let him know (Curry) was going to wear the bracelet."
Brody’s fight with leukemia has touched people all over the nation, including Curry and Kerr. Both send frequent texts to Brody, encouraging him to stay strong as he fights the disease.

Chad Gaines Stop saying people "lose their battle with cancer!" “When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.”

Leigh Anne Taylor Essex He went to school with my kids. I'm yet to tell them. He was one very special kid who touched so many lives from people that knew him and even didn't know him. He'll be missed but has left a lifetime mark on many.
Kathleen Hughes Prayers for the family. This sweet little guy taught so many people about love, generosity, and caring in his short life. He's free from pain and has a front row seat in heaven to watch the Warriors
