I don't know this English name even it had been my stable food sometime when I was young. Cassava should be popular in South China and my mom always boiled it and took it as raw. Annie, an Indonesian friend who brought me the new concept of cassava. Below information shared by her.

Cassava is known to contain levels of cyanide so the leaves and skin of the root should be avoided. Cooking or soaking the cassava root makes it safe for consumption.
It is a folk diet, not expensive and good to health. Why stop taking junk food. Apart to steam or boil cassava, how about shredded Cassava with coconut. (recipe by Annie, photo: second on the right)
Ingredients:
- 1 or 2 fresh cassava
- 5 cubes coconut sugar
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
How to:
- shred cassavas, mix with coconut sugar as desire)
- steam for 30 min
- add shredded coconut, steam for another 10 min (done)
