Lizard Fossils: Scientists Study Collection of Reptiles Fossilized in Amber for 99 Million Years

The collection of mid Cretaceous Period fossils comes from modern-day Myanmar and preserves details about the reptiles, including their scales, tongues and claws, a study in Science Advance found.

"Two of the fossils are related to chameleons and geckos, and they exhibit the ballistic tongues and toepads characteristic of their respective groups. However, the toepads of the burmite geckos have a design that's significantly different – confirming that alternative pad architectures have already evolved by this time."

This little guy is almost 100 million years old.
