Obituary : Kash , Warren Co. sheriff K9 dies of cancer

A Warren County canine has died months after retiring due to cancer.
The sheriff's office said Kash passed away last week with his handler Deputy Brian Lewis at his side.
Kash, a Belgium Malinois, began his career at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office in 2009.
He was originally trained in the detection of prescription pills and US currency. He was the first law enforcement canine in the country trained to detect prescription pills, the sheriff's office said.
Kash eventually became certified by the State of Ohio in the tracking of persons, article detection, handler protection, criminal apprehension and narcotic detection.
Kash continued to work, even after being diagnosed with cancer, until he officially retired in July.
