Egypt Votes In Favor Of Israel In UN
The Egyptian daily Al-Masri Al-Yawm reports that, for the first time in its history, Egypt has voted in favor of Israel in the UN.
Member-states were required to approve the makeup of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. The list submitted for approval included six countries: Israel, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, El-Salvador and Sri Lanka; members were required to vote either for or against the list, without a possibility of approving or rejecting individual countries on it. Egypt voted in favor of the list. It should be mentioned that other Arab countries abstained (including Qatar, which is itself on the list, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Morocco), while others (Jordan, Libya and Lebanon) were absent from the vote.
