CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A former Charlotte pastor pled guilty and was sentenced Monday in connection with a handful of child sex offenses.
Orlando Caldera, 65, entered a guilty plea on one count of first-degree sex offense and five counts of indecent liberties with a child on Monday.
The charges stem from an August 2014 report that two young girls told their parents that the associate pastor at Memorial United Methodist Church on Central Avenue just kissed them in a way that made them uncomfortable.
When interviewed by investigators, the girls disclosed other incidents of fondling by Caldera, and stated there were other girls who had been touched, according to the District Attorney’s Office. Four other girls came forward during the investigation.
Monday, a Superior Court Judge sentenced Caldera to 14 to 21 years in prison. Following his release, Caldera will be required to register as a sex offender
