Washington County Pastor William “Pete” Jackson McCullers arrested, to face sex charges

CHIPLEY — Authorities have arrested a Washington County associate pastor wanted on 10 counts of lewd and lascivious acts on four different victims under 12-years old, according to a news release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).
WCSO sought the whereabouts of 64-year-old William “Pete” Jackson McCullers, who fled Washington County as authorities released a warrant for his arrest Thursday, according to law enforcement. He was captured in Dothan, Alabama, and is expected to be charged with at least 10 counts of lewd and lascivious acts on four children under 12-years old, WCSO reported.
In an alert released prior to his arrest, officers stressed that the public “take no action on your own” if they had any contact with William McCullers. Instead, WCSO encouraged people to immediately call the sheriff’s office or 911.
McCullers, an associate pastor at Chipley’s Tabernacle of Praise Church, 1100 Main St., was arrested Thursday evening at a Dothan hotel after being spotted in the area days prior. He was traveling with his wife, Linda McCullers, WCSO reported.
William McCullers is expected to face 10 counts of lewd and lascivious acts on four different victims under 12 years old. It was unclear Thursday whether Linda McCullen would face charges.
