PhotoNews : Thousands of Burundian asylum-seekers are currently waiting on the neighbouring island of Kugunga

Carrying little more than the clothes on their backs, a kitchen accessory or two, tens of thousands of Burundian refugees continue to make their way into Tanzania as political unrest at home shows no signs of abating. Fears of a new conflict have begun to spread.
Thousands of Burundian asylum-seekers are currently waiting on the neighbouring island of Kugunga, waiting for transport to the port of Kigoma. Two UNHCR boats, working around the clock, ferry people - and their luggage - across the water.
