Police say four people, including the shooter, have been killed and one person injured in a shooting on the Trestle Trail Bridge in the City of Menasha.
Police say no officers responding to the scene fired a weapon. They also say that the incident appears to be a random act and that the public is not in any danger at this time.
Police say the call came in about an active shooter situation a little after 7:30 p.m., promoting multiple police agencies to respond. Many officers arrived on scene within minutes.
Police say the male shooter was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Trestle Trail Bridge spans Little Lake Butte des Morts and connects to Fritse Park on the Neenah side. Though the shooting is reported to have happened on the far west side of the bridge, the entire bridge falls under the City of Menasha jurisdiction.
Police say multiple people are reported to have witnessed the incident and are being interviewed by police at this time.
Theda Clark Medical Center confirms that it was put under a “controlled access” lock down as a result of the incident. The hospital also reports that it is treating one victim who is listed in critical condition. The hospital went into a lock down at about 7:45 p.m..
St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton was also under a lock down for a short period of time as a precaution.
The department is advising people to stay away from the bridge and Fritse Park in Neenah.
There is a large police presence in the City of Menasha at the Menasha Lock on Broad Street.
