Bishop Duncan Williams May 2015 Devotional – How do we put on the armor of god ?

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armor
of God, that ye may be able to withstand
in the evil day, having done all, to stand”.
(Ephesians 6:13).
We have previously discussed spiritual warfare
and the fact that victory has already been won
for us by Jesus Christ. We must understand also
that, to fight effectively in any battle, we need
weapons of warfare. No soldier goes to war
without proper ammunition. We see videos of
ongoing wars in different places. The soldiers
and fighters wear bulletproof vests and helmets
and boots. They carry very sophisticated
machine guns. Some of these weapons and
armors are defensive and others are offensive. In
the same manner, believers must have weapons
to do battle with. The only difference is that our
weapons are not canal. Our weapons cannot be
seen or touched physically. Our weapons are
spiritual and if used as prescribed for us will
guarantee our victory.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war
after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare
are not carnal, but mighty through God to
pulling down of strong holds .. . “.We cannot use
physical weapons to fight spiritual battles. We
need spiritual armor and in this case, the whole
armor of God. The armor exists but we must
take it, according to our anchor scripture. God
does not impose it on us.
As we begin to engage the enemy in these last
days, we must prepare ourselves to pick up the
armor and begin to exercise and train ourselves
to be fit and ready for armor.
PRAYER: Father, Your word declares: “Blessed
be the Lord my strength which teacheth my
hands to war, and my fingers to fight:” (Psalm
Now according to Your word, teach me to war
against the enemy deploying the weapons that
You have made available to me.
Show me the use of each weapon and let my
victory come speedily in Jesus’ name.
