Menefee’s vehicle — which police earlier said was a dark blue GMC Yukon — was found in rural Casco Township in Allegan County, the Coloma Township Police Department said. An area resident first spotted it in the area of 111th Avenue and 62nd Street around 10 a.m. Sunday.
Police initially believed Menefee was on foot, as they do not think he knows anyone in the area who would have given him a ride. But they also said he may have sought a ride with a stranger.
Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies, as well as K-9s, searched the area on foot Sunday. A Michigan State Police helicopter was also sent to the area and was searching with a thermal imager.
Residents in the area where Menefee’s car was found were advised to lock their doors. Coloma Township PD Lt. Jason Roe told 24 Hour News 8 over the phone Sunday night that police didn’t think that Menefee was armed, but couldn’t confirm that for certain. They were considering him potentially dangerous, as he is the suspect in a homicide.
He is the only suspect in the murder and is thought to be traveling alone.

Menefee is described by police as a white man around 6 feet tall and 210 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. Lt. Roe said Menefee had attempted to buy a razor and hair dye at a South Haven Walmart, but was “unsuccessful.” Police didn’t immediately know whether he had succeeded in buying items to change his appearance elsewhere.

Anyone who sees Menefee or anything suspicious in the Fennville area is asked to call 911. Anyone with information who is not in the area of the search is asked to call the Berrien County Dispatch at 269.983.3060 or Coloma Township Police at 269.983.3060.
