KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — The former Kannapolis youth pastor charged with sex crimes last week now faces a new charge.
Benjamin Ross Hollifield, 25, of Buck Board Lane, Salisbury, has been charged with third degree sexual exploitation of a minor in addition to 14 counts including statutory rape or sex offense and indecent liberties.
Deputies say Hollifield encouraged and facilitated a 13-year-old church member to send him a nude photo, according to an arrest warrant filed Thursday. All charges involve the same victim.
He was given a $10,000 bond in addition to his $1 million bond for the previous charges.
Hollified was youth and outreach pastor at Piedmont Baptist Church, according to a cached church webpage. He has been terminated from his position.
Hollifield had a court date in Rowan County Friday on the new charge.
