Obituary : Matthew Baker , Norwich CT Priest Killed in Auto Crash

NORWICH, CT (WFSB) - A priest from Danielson was killed in a crash on Route 2 in Norwich on Sunday afternoon.
A 2002 Dodge Caravan being driven by 37-year-old Matthew Baker was traveling westbound on Route 2 when police said the driver lost control of the vehicle near the Exit 25 on-ramp just before 4 p.m. Police said the Caravan crashed into a snow-packed center median were it “rolled over numerous times” and struck a metal guard rail.
The vehicle came to rest on its roof. Baker, who was a Greek orthodox priest at the Norwich Holy Trinity Parish, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.
There were six passengers in the vehicle including 2-year-old and 3-year-old. They were taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich with “minor injuries,” police said.
