Ramson and Linda Mumba - Word for Today

Ramson and Linda Mumba

When the enemy knocks you down, don't give him the pleasure of staying flat on your back. Let him know that he's messing with the wrong person because you believe that ONLY GOD will have the last WORD in your life. Whatever you do, be sure to get up again because God has abundant goodness waiting for you in your future.

If you can think it, God can and will do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine. Your dreams will come to pass because God is not a man that He should lie.

Oh Lord our God, how excellent is your name in all the earth!! Thank you for for your kindness in standing up for us and perfecting everything that concerns us.

Rick Warren - The Purpose Driven Life

How, then, does the Holy Spirit produce the nine fruit of the Spirit in your life? Does he create them instantly? Will you wake up one day and be suddenly filled with these characteristics fully developed? No. Fruit always matures and ripens slowly.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Marriage in Trouble

pastor chris and anita marriage

Arguably, one of the most famous couple-pastors in Nigeria is Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his wife, Rev. Anita Oyakhilome of Love World Assembly, aka Christ Embassy Church.

However, with the latest information emanating from the United kingdom, where the Oyakhilome’s resides, the couple may have divorced or separated secretly from their marriage.

According to a report published in the UK on Wednesday, 28 May, 2014, most of the members of Christ Embassy Church in the UK are beginning to show concerns on why the couple has not been seen together both in the church and outside the church lately.

In an attempt to find answers to their worries, some members of the church have allegedly went to open a Facebook page which they call ‘Where is Rev. Anita Oyakhilome?

The page administrators who are based in the United Kingdom and are strong members of the church, stated on the page that they are very worried about the absence of Rev. Anita Oyakhilome in the life of Pastor Chris.I Already Started Christ Embassy Before I Married Her" Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Divorces His Wife Anita

While demanding demanding to know her whereabouts, the members stated on the facebook page that they wondering what has become of the clergywoman.

According to comments on the facebook page, Rev. Anita hasn’t been seen in the Christ Embassy Church where she pastors since November, 2013, and there were no explanations given, as to her sudden disappearance and the church has been left without a pastor since then.

In one of the posts on the page, the members want to know the real truth about her mental state as there are speculations she may not be really sound upstairs, while they are also wondering if their Senior Pastor had divorced the wife without the members knowing.

In another post, the group reported the summary of an earlier speech made by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, where he admonished his members not to question anything they see or air their opinion on any matter in the church.

He pointed out in the speech, that any church where the members air their views never grows.

Below is the summary of pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Speech on 16/05/2014 in a meeting with all UK Pastors and Deacons at Christ Embassy, Bermondsey:

“I am here for your concerns about the ongoing domestic issue with my wife and I know it affects you directly, being the ones under her leadership. This is not an organisation or a political party, so it’s not a place for you to air your opinion or scrutinise what we do.

We had a vision, started and you joined us. If you don’t like what we do, you can get out. Churches where members air their views never grow. Some pastors wives think when they marry a pastor they are equal to the pastor.

My wife thinks so, as a matter of fact, Rev. Tom was her pastor before I married her and Rev. Ray and Evang. Owase were her leaders long before I married her. How come she thinks she’s senior to them now? I already started Christ Embassy before I married her.

I didn’t marry her and said we should start Christ Embassy. I was already pastoring. I already set my sail and knew my direction before I married her. I only said come and help me. Be careful of the friends you keep.I Already Started Christ Embassy Before I Married Her" Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Divorces His Wife Anita

My wife keeps friends who bring out the worst in her and help her see the worst in people instead of keeping friends that will help her vision especially as the wife of a global pastor like me.

Bitterness is prolonged and accumulated anger. My wife is always angry and bitter. Allegations are either false or twisted information. The current situation is not as a result of what I did or what I didn’t do.

I didn’t do anything to have caused an upheaval. You don’t join a woman to fight her husband. I’m not teaching you what is wrong, at least I have 2 girls who will one day marry and I want to them to enjoy it.

Author, Poet Maya Angelou Dies

On Tuesday, legendary writer Maya Angelou died at age 86. One of the most famous African American writers to emerge in the 20th century, Angelou was a poet, playwright, and great orator. WSJ's Lee Hawkins reflects on her life and legacy.
Maya Angelou, the celebrated poet, writer and activist who rose from a childhood of poverty in Arkansas to become an American literary icon, died Wednesday morning at her home in Winston-Salem, N.C., at the age of 86.
Born in 1928 as Marguerite Johnson, Ms. Angelou led a multitude of lives. She drove a streetcar in San Francisco, was a newspaper editor in Egypt and worked as a cook and a prostitute when she was a destitute single mother. She wrote television and movie screenplays, performed on the stage as a singer, dancer and actor and released an album of Calypso music.
But Ms. Angelou will be remembered above all as the "people's poet," a towering public figure and literary icon whose words seem to appear everywhere—spoken at a presidential inauguration, stamped on Hallmark greeting cards and, on the day she died, cascading on Twitter and Facebook as millions commemorated her life and work.
Ms. Angelou was busy writing and planning public appearances in her final days. She was scheduled to receive an award in Houston on Friday but canceled her appearance, citing a health emergency.
Associated Press
Helen Brann, Ms. Angelou's agent of close to 35 years, said the poet was in the middle of writing a new book and was in good spirits when they spoke on Tuesday.
"She sounded as she always did. She sounded vital and interested in her new book, which we were talking about," said Ms. Brann. "It's a terrific book, a memoir." The book is unfinished, Ms. Brann said.
Ms. Angelou published 36 books in her lifetime, including seven autobiographies, volumes of poetry, essay collections, cookbooks and children's books. She rose to fame in 1969 with the publication of her landmark book, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," which explores her childhood and teenage years and delves into her struggles with rape, racial identity and sexism. It became a best seller and was nominated for a National Book Award, and remains a staple on many high-school and college curricula, selling millions of copies.

Son Of Late Snake-Handling Pastor Is Bitten By Rattlesnake

Cody Coots father
Snake-handling is a tradition for the Coots family of Kentucky. But months after taking over for his father to lead a Pentecostal church, Cody Coots says he was bitten this week. His father, Jamie, died of a poisonous snakebite in February.
The family has been featured on a reality TV show, as reported:
"[Jamie] Coots, known for handling poisonous rattlesnakes and featured on the Snake Salvation, was bitten on his right hand and died in his home after refusing medical treatment, NPR's John Burnett tells our Newscast unit."
Cody Coots, 21, is the pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name church of Middlesboro, Ky. He tells the that after he was bitten by a rattlesnake Monday, his family sent an ambulance away.
"The painful bite caused swelling and he vomited repeatedly," the newspaper reports.
"For a rattler bite, it wasn't bad at all," Coots said.
He added, "I told the Lord that I wouldn't go to the hospital."
Coots says that snakes will be present at the church's service tonight.
Last year, Coots' father his house and snake room, which included rattlesnakes, copperheads and two cottonmouths.
As John reported:
"Coots has been bitten nine times by venomous snakes. Each time he refused medical attention. Half of his right middle finger is gone as a result of a fang from a yellow rattler. In 1995, a woman who was bit in his church refused to go to the hospital; she died on Coots' couch while church members prayed over her."
Jamie Coots told John that he was speaking to the media in order to dispel misunderstandings about snake-handling in churches.
"We sing, we preach, we testify, take up offerings, pray for the sick, everything like everybody else does," he says. "Just, every once in a while, snakes are handled."

Enoch Adejare Adeboye - Testimonies

Pastor Adeboye
Testimony: Awesome God has done it for my family, by putting a stop to our sleepless nights. I wrote to daddy sometime last year (2013) when this whole thing started.
That my brother had a fight with someone which turned out to be huge problem because the person in question sustained big injury and led to my brother's arrest.
(Grateful no life was lost) we thought it wasn't going to be that big, because the guy recovered within 2 weeks but devil stepped in before you know it 10 months went by without any trial, detaining him for that long gave us concern.
And in early April I wrote to Daddy again and got a reply that everything is going to be alright.
"On The Day Out With God Of Daddy G O" which was held on 11th May.
I took a walk of faith by pledging my whole May salary towards the building of the new auditorium on this issue.
Is God not awesome? I got my salary alert today and also got the news of my brother's release. Join me in praising His Holy name. He reigns forever.

Woman sentenced to death for Converting to Christianity gives birth in prison

Meriam Yehya Ibrahim and Husband
(CNN) -- A Sudanese woman sentenced to die for refusing to renounce her Christianity has given birth to a girl in prison, her lawyers said Tuesday.
Meriam Yehya Ibrahim, 27, delivered her baby Monday at a women's prison in Khartoum, but her husband was not allowed to be present for the birth, sources told CNN. They asked not to be named for safety reasons.

Ibrahim was convicted of apostasy, or the renunciation of faith, about two weeks ago while she was eight months pregnant.
A Sudanese lawyer filed an appeal last week to reverse the verdict by the lower court.
She is in prison with her 20-month-old son, but Sudanese officials have said the toddler is free to leave any time, according to her lawyer, Mohamed Jar Elnabi.
Her husband, Daniel Wani, is a U.S. citizen who uses a wheelchair and "totally depends on her for all details of his life," her lawyer said.
The appeal
The appeals court in Khartoum will issue a ruling on the case in the next week, but it will first ask the lower court to submit the documents it used to make the ruling, according to her lawyer.
Once that's done, it will issue a case number, he said.
"We will continue checking with the appeals court, but Inshallah (Allah willing) ... the appeals court will reverse the sentence and set her free," he said.
Christian or Muslim?
Ibrahim says her father was a Sudanese Muslim and her mother was Ethiopian Orthodox. Her father left when she was 6, and she was raised as a Christian.
The court had warned her to renounce her Christianity by May 15, but she held firm to her beliefs.
Sudanese Parliament speaker Fatih Izz Al-Deen said claims that Ibrahim was raised as non-Muslim are untrue.
She was raised in an Islamic environment, and her brother, a Muslim, filed the complaint against her, according to Al-Deen.
The complaint alleges that she went missing for several years, and her family was shocked to find out she married a Christian, according to her lawyer.
However, because her father was Muslim, the courts considered her one too, which would mean her marriage to a non-Muslim man is void.
Attempts to contact Sudan's justice minister and foreign affairs minister for comment were unsuccessful.

100 lashes
In addition to the death sentence, the court convicted Ibrahim of adultery and sentenced her to 100 lashes.
The Parliament speaker has said the verdict is not final and will go through all the judicial stages to reach the constitutional court.
Worldwide condemnation
Rights groups and foreign embassies worldwide condemned the verdict.
"The fact that a woman could be sentenced to death for her religious choice, and to flogging for being married to a man of an allegedly different religion, is abhorrent and should never be even considered," said Manar Idriss, Amnesty International's Sudan researcher.
Katherine Perks with the African Centre for Justice and Peace Studies said the verdict goes against Sudan's "own constitution and commitments made under regional and international law."
Foreign embassies in Khartoum, including those of the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, urged the government to reverse course.
In past cases involving pregnant or nursing women, the Sudanese government waited until the mother weaned her child before executing any sentence, said Christian Solidarity Worldwide spokeswoman Kiri Kankhwende.

Pope Francis calls Muslims 'brothers' at Dome of the Rock

JERUSALEM (AP) — Pope Francis on Monday urged his "brother" Muslims to never abuse God's name through violence as he opened the third and final day of his Mideast pilgrimage with a visit to the Dome of the Rock, the iconic shrine located at the third-holiest spot in Islam.
Francis took off his shoes to step into the gold-topped dome, which enshrines the rock where Muslims believe the Prophet Mohammad ascended to heaven.
The mosque complex, known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as the Temple Mount, is at the heart of the territorial and religious disputes between Israel and its Arab neighbors.
Speaking to the grand mufti of Jerusalem and other Muslim authorities, Francis deviated from his prepared remarks to refer not just to his "dear friends" but "dear brothers."
"May we respect and love one another as brothers and sisters," he said, and added, "May we learn to understand the suffering of others! May no one abuse the name of God through violence!"
After the brief visit, Francis headed to the Western Wall, the only remains of the biblical Second Temple and the holiest place where Jews can pray.

Florida Pastor Rich Wilkerson Married Kanye West and Kim Kardashian

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian picture
When Kim Kardashian and Kanye West decided to join together in holy matrimony, they asked their friend Rich Wilkerson Jr. to officiate the ceremony.

Wilkerson is an associate pastor of Trinity Church in Miami, a large non-denominational fellowship. But he isn't any ordinary pastor. He's a 30-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio lookalike who leads The Rendezvous, a 1,500-member young adult ministry at the church. He comes from a long line of pastors; his grandfather and great uncle worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta. His father, the senior pastor of the church, has a relief ministry to Haiti.

So how did a Miami pastor become part of the wedding of the year (Including a visit to the photo booth, below)?

It started on a random Tuesday night about two years ago, when West and Kardashian showed up unannounced at one of his weekly services. They hit it off with Wilkerson and began attending the church regularly when they were in town. The church, known for its diversity and its ministry to inner-city youth, became a safe place for the famous couple.
Rich Wilkerson

According to West, he began to see Wilkerson as a spiritual advisor. When he needed counsel on how to portray Jesus onstage during performances of Jesus Walks, West asked Wilkerson how to do it. "I talked to my friend Pastor Rich that has the church down in Miami and asked him about it," West told KMEL radio in 2013. "And my girl asked him separately, too."

If Wilkerson was nervous about performing the wedding, he didn't show it. "It went off without a hitch," says a wedding guest. "He acted like he does celebrity weddings every day."

Rev Dr Uma Ukpai - The Power of Midnight Prayer

Uma Ukpai

"And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them” (Acts 16:25).

When you add praises to your night prayer, you are asking for reinforcement from heaven. As you arise and pray from tonight, God will tame all lions and oppressors sent after you.

Your enemies will enter season of confusion of purpose and you will receive divine visitation with the only option of staying on top."

Bishop Duncan Williams - Intercessory Prayer

Prove Yourself

“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.” (Luke 16:10)

Prayer Point:

In the name of Jesus, I deploy the key of obedience in the face of temptation that opens the door to promotion and elevation. By the Blood of Jesus, I destroy the seeds of unfaithfulness and instability that war against my effectiveness to build trust and relationship with those who have authority over me. From the Throne Room perspective, I deploy the Shield of Faith and the Flaming Sword of the Word to rebuke and turn back every arrow of offense that comes while I am serving and building capacity to handle more in the name of Jesus. By the power of the Supreme Sacrifice of the Blood of Jesus I command to return to sender every arrow of wicked expectations shot at me in an attempt to be a provocation for me to sin, to error or to fail in any task or assignment in the name of Jesus. By the speakings of the Blood of Jesus, I silence the voice of whisperings that cause me to be offended, misbehaving; out of position or otherwise unavailable when the day of my promotion and Divine Elevation is due. According to the Word in Hosea 7:1, I realize that the enemy has deployed time-sensitive iniquities designed to stop me at the time of my promotion, but today, by Divine Authority, I release the Fire of God into my future to uncover, uproot and destroy every time-sensitive curse waiting to confront me on the day of my elevation in the name of Jesus.

Joseph Prince Daily Devotional - At the cross,

joseph prince daily devotion

At the cross, Jesus did not just take away your sins, He also gave you His righteousness! A divine exchange took place—your sins for His righteousness (2Cor 5:21).

This means that, today, you are as righteous as Christ Himself, not because of your good works, but because of His finished work! Place your hand over your heart right now and boldly declare: "I, (state your name), AM the righteousness of God in Christ!" Learn to speak this powerful truth over yourself every day.

If the enemy tells you, “You’re a bad Christian and that’s why you’re sick,” just declare, “I AM righteous in Christ! By His stripes I am healed!”

Bombings Kill Scores of Christians in Nigerian City

Blasts in Nigeria's central city of Jos killed dozens of people on Tuesday. Watch footage of the explosions from Channels TV. (Photo: AP)
ABUJA, Nigeria—Three bombs struck the crowded city of Jos in quick succession on Tuesday, aid workers said, killing at least 118 people and putting one of Africa's most religiously divided cities back on edge.
Two bombs struck a teeming downtown marketplace minutes apart in the afternoon before a third blast occurred near a military outpost, said a Nigerian Red Cross aid worker who estimated that 40 people had been killed.
Other aid workers, meanwhile, hung back—afraid of the possibility of a fourth bomb, he said. Witnesses told the British Broadcasting Corp. that they had seen more than 40 bodies carried into a nearby hospital.
"It's serious," said the Red Cross responder. "It was located at the heart of the city. The heart of the city."

No group took immediate responsibility for the attacks. Still, the apparently indiscriminate bombings bore all of the gruesome hallmarks of Islamist insurgency Boko Haram, the same group that kidnapped 276 teenage girls from a high school in April.
This time, they struck one of Nigeria's most nervous cities: Interfaith violence rages constantly across the lush hills outside Jos, carried out by people who have little, if any, connection to Boko Haram.
President Goodluck Jonathan, who has drawn fire over what many Nigerians see as his insufficient response to Boko Haram, condemned the attacks, saying, "This administration will not be cowed by the atrocities of enemies of human progress."
While much of the world's attention has been fixated on the fate of the schoolgirls, a campaign of car bombings has been under way across the Nigeria's Muslim hinterlands.
Two car bombs in the past five weeks hit the same suburb just minutes from the presidential villa in the capital, Abuja, killing at least 91 people. On Sunday evening, another bomb left five dead in the Christian quarters of Kano, an ancient Muslim city six hours' drive to the north of Abuja. While Boko Haram releases YouTube videos every few weeks, it rarely claims responsibility for attacks.
In Jos, a city of one million, the first two bombs struck a marketplace packed with Christian shopkeepers, but also Muslims. Local media showed grisly pictures of charred bodies loaded into trucks at the scene.

Lysa Terkeurst - God's Economy

"Can I speak to your mama heart for a quick second? All of these hard mothering moments will be worth it. Even in those seasons where you feel as if your child is doing everything opposite of what you've taught them. All that parenting is in them. And the fruit of that will emerge one day.”

"In God’s economy, people don’t stand on opposing sides of the conflict scale. People stand on one side and Satan stands on the other.

When we dump hurt into one another’s lives, we aren’t leveling the conflict scale. We are just weighing down the people side of the scale and elevating the Satan side of the scale. Satan loves it when we do his work by dumping on each other.

The secret to healthy conflict resolution isn’t taking a you-against-me stance, but realizing it’s all of us against Satan — he’s the real enemy." - from her book, “Unglued”
